Yesterday at the Taj Mahal was a day of highs and lows - amazing beauty of the Taj and distressing encounters with beggars. You'll have to wait till we get home for the details. Even after our very late night last night we were still up early and headed straight to Kalkaji, which was a great relief to see all the kids again, we missed them even after one day. We started with a much needed team talk for everyone to discuss how the night before had affected them. Everyone felt that although it had been one of their hardest times here, it had also motivated us to help Asha even more and enjoy every moment with the kids in Kalkaji. We then began painting the rooms, we are now close to finishing most of the characters drawn in the Disney Room. Others spent the day doing crafts with the kids - Emily, Kim and Angharad kept the girls entertained by giving them a bracelet making lesson - so all the girls left with not only lovely beaded bracelets but big smiles too. Many of the group took turns to sit in on the women's clinic today, to see how the doctors and Community Health Volunteers treated the patients, it proved very beneficial for our aspiring doctors. The highlight of the day for many was dancing with the younger and older girls -Angharad, Jenny, Sarah, Hannah H, Jess and myself shaking our stuff was not quite as graceful as the others, but none the less we got a cheer at the end, also I got a sneaky video of the girls dancing - have no fear it will go on bebo!! Whilst this was going on Hannah C and Han kept painting, as they had done all day, and for this deserve a big thank you from us all as they have been willing to offer themselves up to do it every time someone was needed also because they are amazing drawers! After the dancing Jenny, Hannah H, Jess, Angharad and I were invited to Yashoda and Kaushalya's house, two of the older girls, their house was very small and it was amazing how proud they were of it, they gave us Chai Tea, which is great, and we got pictures with them - it was definitely the highlight of my day as I felt so privileged to have been asked to see their house, it was a great honour for us all! Having an early night tonight- we need it! Everyone sends their love and well wishes home! Sophie Brown
