The International Network of Past Pupils and their Associations

The life of Methody extends well beyond the confines of 1 Malone Road. It exists in the imaginations, memories and emotions of those whose lives have been enduringly touched by the ‘Methody Experience’. This life can be observed when Methody friends meet together in small friendship groups, reunions and formal associations. The Methody community, however, is a worldwide one with over 20,000 past pupils living in all parts of the globe. For the most part it is a virtual community where the members are largely unconnected with each other and with the College.

The concept of Methody Worldwide as an online community has been tested first in Australia and New Zealand and is now being rolled out in other countries. Networks are developing in the Far East, South East Asia and Canada, and links have been established in North and South America and South Africa. At the heart of each network there is a Convenor who is in direct contact with, and supported by the Alumni & Development Office. Information about each network and link will be displayed in the College’s new website in the autumn.

To support the development of an online community Methody has adopted specialist software (webALUMNUS) that will allow individuals as well as networks to communicate with ease with each other and the College.

We have chosen this system because it is fully compliant with the Data Protection Act (1998), and provides a more secure and fully–featured environment than anything that could readily be developed in–house. Wherever you happen to be, it is available over the Internet to give you another way to communicate and interact with with each other and with the College.

Who can join?

By virtue of having attended Methodist College, you are already considered to be a member of Methody Worldwide. Anyone who is or was a bona fide former pupil of Methodist College Belfast is most warmly invited to join us online. As well as old boys and old girls, we would also like to invite current or past members of staff to join Methody Worldwide. 

What are the main benefits of joining?

• Maintain contact with all your old friends via the online Who’s Who and via a personal life–time e–mail address that remains the same, no matter how often you move location or change other e–mail addresses.
• Ensure that details about you are accurate, appropriate, comprehensive and completely up to date.
