The College is fortunate to have a wealth of archive material that is of interest to current and former pupils and staff alike. For this, Methody owes an immense debt of gratitude to the late Paul Fry. A pupil, then a teacher, and in his later years the College Archivist, Paul was dedicated to the College. In the days before the PC, Internet and email, he painstakingly gathered together records of every single pupil to have entered the College from 1868 to 1980, compiling it in the Methodist College Register. The information held includes addresses, fathers' names and, where possible, a brief glimpse of what life held after Methody. The Register is a source of amusement and surprise to visiting former pupils when they see their name in the book, as well as reminding them the names of classmates long forgotten. In addition to the register, we hold copies of the College Magazine, which has existed in some form or other almost since the foundation of Methody. The oldest magazine we have, although sadly in poor condition, dates back to 1887. We have an almost complete collection of the College Magazine from the 1940s onwards. The Methody archives are of interest not only to those who attend/have attended the College itself, but also in the wider context of how education in Northern Ireland has evolved throughout the years, as well as reflecting major social changes. If there is something you'd be interested in looking at, please contact us and we will do our best to accomodate you. Former Pupils The College is keen to hear of past pupils achievements and welcome any news that we receive. In addition, please keep us informed of the death of any former pupil so that this too can be entered into the records. Information should be sent to the College for the attention of Dr Bob Jordan, Archivist.
