Methody has, for generations, been able to maintain its reputation for sporting excellence by providing for its pupils, at Pirrie Park and elsewhere, sports facilities which are the envy of many. Many of us, over the years, enjoyed and benefited greatly from sport at the College, and we very much appreciate the efforts of our predecessors who had the foresight to acquire and develop the facilities at Pirrie, providing as they do access to a wide range of sports for all our pupils. It now falls to us to continue the tradition. The Board of Governors is determined that the sporting ethos of the College will be maintained and that future generations of pupils will continue to have the opportunities which were provided for their forebears in the past. In committing the College to this very significant development we are confident that we have the support of the broad Methody community, and I hope that many of you will feel inclined to support this appeal. The project has to be financed entirely out of College funds and it is only with your help that a scheme of this quality and vision can be countenanced. It is very fitting that the new pavilion will be named in honour of David Wells who has done so much for sport in the College. David has been an inspiration to all those young people with whom he has been involved over the years, and his passion for the College and all it stands for continues undiminished. I hope you enjoy reflecting on the contents of this brochure, and that it rekindles happy memories. Perhaps you will help us ensure that generations of sportsmen and sportswomen to come will have equally happy memories in the future. John Mulholland Chairman of the Board of Governors
